Labor Day: The Unofficial End of Summer

Labor Day is Monday, September 4th, 2017. It’s the last day of summer. Well, not really. The last full day of summer is September 21st, but Labor Day seems like the end. Kids are back in school, or will be going back to school soon.

Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer for some seasonal businesses too, such as amusement parks and campgrounds just to name a couple. In the northern USA especially, you might not want to be going down a water slide past the beginning of September. The nights get colder and the water gets freezing. Brr.

So what will you and your family do for Labor Day Weekend? Maybe go to a water park and enjoy one last time on the water slides? Ride them until your butt hurts? Perhaps a cookout? A lot of family and friends get together to cook up hot dogs and hamburgers, grab a beer or a soda, and enjoy the day.

A day at the lake doesn’t sound bad either, or hitting the beach if you live near the ocean. In places like Florida, you might be able to swim year round. In places like Michigan and Maine, your time is much more limited.

Labor Day Weekend is also a good time to catch up on yardwork and chores around the house, but that’s the least fun thing on the list. Still, it’s a good way to avoid weekend traffic and feel productive at the same time.

Whatever you do, all of us at CashCrate hope you have a great Labor Day!
