Daylight Saving Time begins 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 11th. Don’t forget to change your clocks!
Yay! The dark days of winter are over and we get an extra hour of daylight in the evening. It’s not spring yet. That happens March 20th. But it is time to “spring ahead.”
Set you clocks ahead one hour Saturday night. Officially, we’re supposed to do this at 2 AM, but if you’re not a night owl, it’s OK to do this before you go to bed. The need to change the time on your alarm clock is obvious. You don’t want to oversleep an hour if you have something going on Sunday morning.
You may need to change other clocks too. Stoves, microwaves, coffee makers, cars, and other items we own may have clocks that need to be manually adjusted. Most cell phones and computers should make the time change automatically on their own.
Getting out of bed Sunday may be a little tougher too. That’s because we’ve lost an hour of sleep. Is losing that hour worth the extra hour of daylight in the evening? That’s debatable. Some people will say yes, while others argue that we should get rid of Daylight Saving Time all together.
