Real Haunted Places. Happy Halloween!

Many of us have visited a community haunted house around Halloween, but have you ever visited a real one? Supposedly, there are lots of places that are really haunted.

Hotel Chelsea (New York City): Considered to be one of the most haunted places in NY State, visitors say they have seen the ghosts of former occupants, including Dylan Thomas, Eugene O'Neill and Thomas Wolfe.

Lizzie Borden House (Fall River Massachusetts): Although acquitted of the crime, Lizzie Borden is believed by many to have killed her father and step mother with an axe in 1892. Some believe the house is haunted and it is a spooky place to visit.

Alcatraz Island (San Francisco, California): Closed since 1963, this infamous prison is known for substantial paranormal activity. Take a tour and you may hear fights, screams, and prison doors slamming.

Villisca Axe Murder House (Villisca, Iowa): This is another famous axe murder house in the Midwest. 8 people were killed in their beds in 1912.

The White House: Yes, that big white house in Washington DC where the president lives. According to HGTV, “FDR, Dwight Eisenhower, and Winston Churchill are among those who claimed to have seen the ghost of Abraham Lincoln.”

Myrtles Plantation (St. Francisville, Louisiana): Built in 1797, furniture apparently moves on its own and a piano plays by itself. These are just a couple of the strange occurrences reported.

Virginia City, Nevada: Some believe the entire town is haunted. You may not want to stay overnight here.

Franklin Castle (Cleveland Ohio): You might hear supernatural voices, crying, and see faces materializing. It was built in 1865 and is considered one of the most haunted places in the state of Ohio.

The Alamo (San Antonio, Texas): Supposedly, the Alamo is still haunted by those who died defending it.

The Stanley Hotel (Estes Park, Colorado): This is the hotel that inspired Stephen King to write “The Shining.”

Bird Cage Theatre (Tombstone, Arizona): Anyone into old west history or western movies probably knows a bit about the violent history of Tombstone. Dozens of deaths occurred at the Bird Cage Theatre. Visitors claim to have heard ghostly music, shouts, and laughing.

The Amityville House (Amityville, NY): Many people know this better as “The Amityville Horror.” Jay Anson wrote a book about this haunting in 1977 and The Amityville Horror movie came out in 1979.

These are just a few of the haunted places in America. From all of us at CashCrate, have a safe and not too scary Halloween.
