Should You get a Flu Shot?

Getting a flu shot is recommended by many doctors and health organizations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends getting the flu shot as well. According to the CDC, "everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine every season". Getting a flu shot is a decision you should make and discuss with your doctor.

Many health insurance plans cover the cost of an annual flu shot. If you have health insurance, check with your provider to make sure and find out if there are any copays. You may find a customer service number on the back of your insurance card or you can look it up online.

Finding a place to get a flu shot should be pretty easy. CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and other pharmacy chains and local pharmacies provide that service. You can even get a flu shot at Walmart. Your local health department may provide the shot as well as local clinics.

No one wants to get the flu. It’s awful. This post is not intended to provide medical advice in any way, just some general information. Again, getting a flu shot is something you should discuss with your doctor if you haven’t already.

To help avoid getting the flu, wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your fingers to your eyes, mouth, and nose. Avoid areas where people may be sick. If you are traveling, it might be a good idea to bring a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you.

Taking a few precautions can help you avoid the flu. Hoping you have a healthy fall and winter season.
