It's Back to School Time!

Summer vacations sure go by fast. Swimming, camping, and cook outs make the days fly by. It’s hard to believe it's back to school time already!  For many parents, it’s time to get back to a more normal schedule, but you have to prepare first.

Preparing for back to school can be a challenge. Required supplies can vary from one grade to another and from one class to another. Start by checking with your school district. A lot of times, you can find a list of what’s needed.

Shop early if you can. Have you ever walked through a Walmart and noticed empty shelves where the notebooks, pens, and pencils used to be? There is always a huge run on school supplies this time of year.

Look for sales. Check the newspaper for sales circulars and check in store too. Many retailers have back to school sales with big markdowns. If the price is good enough, buy a few extra essentials for later in the school year. Look for coupons too.  Also, shop online.  Use CashCrate's Shopping Page to get cash back on your purchases.  In the coming weeks, you'll see the money added to your CashCrate account.

School clothes can be another big expense. Like school supplies, shop early and look for sales. Saving a little here and there can really add up, and perhaps those saving can pay for another outfit or a pair of new shoes.

Another thing to think about is haircuts. Parents want their kids to look good for the first day of school, so getting a haircut appointment at the last minute can be tough. Schedule an appointment in advance. A bit of preparation makes back to school days a lot less hectic.  From all of us at CashCrate, we wish you a safe and productive school year.
