Veterans Day 2017Posted in Announcements by CashCrate Dana
Veterans Day is a federal holiday observed each year on November 11th. It is a day to honor those who have served in the military. Most of us know someone who has.
Family can be a great source of support. While husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, moms and dads are on active deployment, separation from family is an inevitable part of military life. Messages from home can sure be uplifting. Family members at home also pick up additional responsibilities. One of my friends, who is in the Navy, was out to sea for 6 months when his daughter was born. It was tough on both him and his wife. I’m guessing you’ve seen things like this too.
Veterans can find additional support outside of family as well. The US Department of Veteran Affairs provides healthcare and other services. According to their site, “VA operates the nation's largest integrated health care system, with more than 1,700 hospitals, clinics, community living centers, domiciliaries, readjustment counseling centers, and other facilities.”
The American Legion is the America's largest veterans service organization in the United States. It was established in 1919. Their mission focuses on patriotism and offering support for veterans and active service members.
These are just a couple of the many organizations that help and support our veterans. On Veterans Day, take a moment to think of the sacrifices they have made, risking their lives, and being away from their families for months at a time. To all of our CashCrate members who are veterans, we thank you for your service.
